“IoT might just as well destroy the internet as we know it”

Smart things are everywhere — from the LIFX internet connected bulb in my bedroom, the NetAtmo thermostat in my living room up till the connected driving experience in my neighbours’ Tesla. These end-user devices are a lot more fun to use when they’re connected and needless to say — they sell.

IoT devices are wildly insecure. [..] So unless we make sure, with good design and good testing, that each and every IoT device would have a guaranteed device management that would last for the technical lifespan of that device, the internet as we know it will eventually consist of billions of devices that are insecure. No, wait. It does, already.
